Jack Walter Harper

Jackson - Jack Walter Harper, 58 years old, died suddenly July 28, 2018 due to an accident on a Saturday motorcycle ride. He loved the great outdoors, especially with the fellowship of friends who rode with him and the brotherhood they formed. It was these friends who surrounded him doing what they loved when he went to be with the Lord.

Jack was born in Jackson on May 28, 1960 to Ernest and Jacqueline Harper. A Murrah High School graduate, he received his masters in accountancy from the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was employed as Senior Director of Information Technology Support Services for Elior North America. He was an active member of Lakeland Presbyterian Church.

Jack was preceded by his father, Ernest Harper. He is survived by his wife, Susan Neill Harper, his son, Josiah and daughter, Mary Deane. He is also survived by his mother, Jacqueline Harper of Jackson; his brothers, Allen (Ladonna) of Broken Arrow, OK; Michael (Linda) of Florence and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at Sebrell Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1st from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The memorial service will be Thursday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeland Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lakeland Presbyterian Church, 5212 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, MS 39232 or a charity of your choice.

Susan I'm so sorry in your Loss. It's been a long time since I've seen you but still remember you and Jack well in the early years of your marriage. You were a fine Christian couple with a bright future ahead of you. You and Jack were two of my first clients when I started in real estate. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Dear Mrs. Harper, Allen, Mike and family,I am so sorry to hear about Jack. I have so many wonderful memories of your family growing up at Alta Woods Presbyterian Church and later on when I was dating Tommy. Although Jack was younger, he was always so nice to me and very polite to my mom and dad, Grady and Ruth Porch. Poppa asked me to pass on his condolences. I had planned to come to the funeral but forgot my husband had a doctor's appointment this morning that required him to have a chauffeur for the day. I wish we had a chance to catch up but certainly not this way. Just know I am thinking of all of you and lifting you up in my prayers.

I was already missing Jack after moving out of state to go back to Minnesota. I am dismayed knowing that I will never get the opportunity to experience his deadpan sense of humor again. I attached the only picture I have of Jack while we attended an Elior conference back on April 27, 2017. My sincere condolence to all of Jack's friends and family.

Hi Cuz! is how he always greeted me! Such an inspiring role model! My brother said in one of his post that Jack heard Well done, my good and faithful servant! when he walked through the golden gates. I could not agree more. This is such a tragic loss, but we have to be happy as he is dancing with the Lord and our family members who proceeded the rest of us. I love you Jack!

We were shocked to hear the news last weekend. He was a fantastic mentor for a kid right out of college that had no idea how to write solid programming, until I studied some of his work. His work ethic, outspoken faith in our Lord, and trust in my potential are still part of me today. My years working for Jack are some of my fondest (albeit some of the hardest work I've ever done!) I'm so glad we got together for lunch a couple of years ago. You won't be forgotten, Jack. See you on the other side.
