So sorry to hear of Mr. Hudson's passing. He was my Chemistry teacher as a senior in the last DHS graduating class of 1960. Have seen him several times when he worked at Runges and enjoyed talking to him about DHS. He was a great teacher, very intelligent, and made learning interesting. My sympathies to his family.

Thank you Mr. Hudson for all you taught me about chemistry back in High School. I loved your teaching style which made me think for myself. As I see, you influenced so many. Thank you!

"Hud" was the best. Chemistry was not my thing, but he got me thru it. I was also honored to babysit for his family. So sorry for your loss, Gwen.

The best teacher ever! Not only did he know his subject matter, but he really knew how to relate to students. His nickname for me was Blondie...he probably knew the chemical components that gave me that natural blonde too! Such a loss...I never met a student that had him that didn't like him....Becky Belmont WHS '69 (Longwood, FL)

I am so sorry to hear this. Mr. Hudson had a greater influence on my life than any other teacher. If not for his Davenport West High chemistry classes, I would never have gone on to study Chemical Engineer. Furthermore, this influence has spanned generations as my two sons have gone on to get PhDs in Chemistry & Chemical Engineering. A wonderful man!

There were two short lists of teachers who taught me how to think or how to do. There was only one who was on both, and that was Jack Hudson. He has come into my mind many times over the last 50 years. And he is certainly there today. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. It is my loss too. West High School Chemistry, Class of '62.

He was my chemistry teacher my junior year(1964) and he later made my mom's visitation a lot easier in 2005. His passing saddens us but we also take joy in his amazing life.

Condolences to the family and friends of Jack Hudson. Jack was my APP Chemistry teacher at West High for the 1975-76 school year. A huge thank you for his contributions to the academic and personal growth he provided to the members of that class as I am aware of multiple physicians, veterinarians, physical therapists, nurses, and PhD's that came from that group. I was a hard worker and struggled getting mostly B's, but learned a great deal earning a BS degree in 1980 and an MS in Science Education. I have taught Chemistry and AP Chemistry for over two decades now. The fondest memory I have of that class, was the pancake breakfast near the end of the school year at his home graciously hosted by Jack and Gwen. My own AP classes also get an end of the year breakfast every year thanks to the modeled kindness and generosity the Hudson's showed. thank you.
