Jack Klein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2017.
Jack Charles Klein - Born July 13, 1935 passed - June 8, 2017 Jack Charles Klein - Born July 13, 1935 passed away on June 8, 2017 in Kelowna,B.C. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Shirley, and children Mark (Shelley), Cathy (Jose), Brad (Donna), Luke (Maggie), and Michael (Jeffrey). Jack was also a loving grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jack was predeceased by his parents Charles and Josephine (nee Kotowicz) and his only sister, Marjorie.

His working life was diverse and exciting. In Regina, he operated many small businesses, including a restaurant, the Sunset Amusement Park, and LeisureWorld hobby stores. He was also a successful insurance broker and realtor. Jack also operated The Lube Shop when they resided in Mesa, Arizona.

Jack also spent 9 years as an elected member of the Saskatchewan Legislature, and proudly held many ministerial positions. This gave him and Shirley the opportunity to travel around the world as an ambassador for Saskatchewan and they made many friends internationally.

As a young man he loved curling and also developed a passion for golf. He and Shirley enjoyed many great golfing vacations. They had the great fortune of enjoying many of Regina's winters at Sea Mountain, Hawaii and loved living in Mesa, Arizona. After much consideration, in 1999, they moved from Mesa to Kelowna and retired here and have enjoyed every day here.

Jack had many memorable moments in his life and one of the greatest was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on the Big Island in Hawaii with all of the children and grandchildren joining in the celebration. He also treasured the time spent with his many friends and would enjoy any chance he had to get together with them.

His love for his family had no boundaries. From the love of his life, Shirley to all of his children and grandchildren, the entire family could feel his love every day and will forever.

The family would like to thank the medical teams that cared for Jack over the years and helped him live a great life, especially Dr. Dean Griswold and Dr. Richard Hooper. Many thanks also to the kind and caring staff at the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their tremendous care of Jack and their kindness to Shirley and Brad.

A memorial mass will be held at St Charles Garnier Church in Kelowna on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow for family and friends to share memories. A private family internment will be held later. Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Central Okanagan Hospice House or to the Heart Unit at Kelowna General Hospital.

I attended St.Joseph's Elementary School with Jack. One could never forget Jack, his sense of humour and his impression of Bob Hope. He lived life fully and one that will never be forgotten by his loving family and the friends whose lives he touched.
