Oxnard, CA
Jack Edward (Papa) Neely, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Oxnard on June 29, 2017 with his loving wife Suzie by his side.
Jack was born September 13, 1930 to Edith Lavona Hollensbe and Frank Elmer Neely, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He received his bachelors and master's degrees from Indiana University, proudly served his country as a Strategic Air Command pilot in the United States Air Force, and had a 40 year career in the aerospace industry the bulk of it with Lockheed Aircraft. His first marriage to Betty Lou Neely on August 23, 1953 produced two children, Lisa Ellen Neely and Jack Edward Neely, II. Betty Lou battled cancer for a number of years before her passing and when all seemed lost he had the good fortune of meeting Bettidene (Suzie) Moody in 1980. Suzie had recently lost her first husband, James (Jim) William Moody. Jim and Suzie's marriage produced five children, Bill Moody, Melanie Moody, Scott Moody, Brent Moody, and Christopher Moody. Jack and Suzie were married on September 12, 1981.
Jack and Suzie enjoyed travelling in Mexico, Europe and the Mediterranean together, raised their youngest son Chris at their home in Silver Strand, were active participants in their grandchildren's various pursuits, and enjoyed spending time with their combined family. Jack will be dearly missed by his daughters Lisa Neely and Melanie Hall (husband Charles), and sons Jack Neely (wife Sheri), Bill Moody (wife Geralyn), Scott Moody (wife Debbie), Brent Moody (wife Anne), and Chris Moody (wife Luz), fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and the many friends made in a long and fruitful life.
His family would like to thank Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice for making Jack's final journey as comfortable as possible.
