Jack Staff Obituary

Dr. Jack Lee Staff, 84, of Matthews, N.C., passed away on Oct. 6, 2017.
Jack was born on Sept. 8, 1933, in Muskogee, Okla., to the late William Herman Staff and Ethel Moeller Staff. He was preceded in death by his 10 siblings and son, Daniel Staff.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Ann Liggett Staff; daughters Judith Poston (Barry) and Elizabeth Staff (husband John); granddaughters, Stephanie Kostreva (Sam) and Shelley Ritter (Josh); and six great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a squadron commander, where he earned a Bronze Star. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, he moved on to become a teacher at Roane County High School, and later the superintendent for Roane County Schools. He also was the director of transportation in the Gwinnett County, Ga., school system. A private service will be held for family only. In lieu of flowers, send donations to either Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

In memory of my dear friend, Jack Staff. He was not only my friend, mentor, boss, confidante, but he was like my second father. Jack, Mary Ellen and I cherish our time with you and Betty. You will remain in our hearts and thoughts!
