Jack was not only our big brother but hero also, we were the envy of the neighborhood kids back in the late fifties, when he was a navigator flying off an aircraft carrier, then being the Marketing Guru of the world!! Will miss his sense of humor and his classy style, though you may be gone, you will always be loved and never forgotten.

Dear Pat:
Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this sad time.
In spite our difficulties communicating, because language limitations, from the very beginning when Ali and I met you and Jack, we felt a very friendly relation much more than just a business relation.
I will miss Jack when I do my work as consultant, knowing that Jack was on the other side of the mail or the phone gave me a lot of confidence when I did my job..
I hope we get the chance to see each other from time to time and we can remember those pleasant moments that we spent with Jack.
Our deepest sympathy.
Raúl - Alicia Peralba and family
Your friends from Madrid.

Dear Pat,
Words utterly fail me as I try to compose these few lines that might give you even some slight comfort in this, one of the darkest hours in your life. Truly, I believe God has placed angels in my path who have guided me through some of my toughest times. Jack, to me, was one of these angels. These tears I weep for Jack are not tears of sorrow, but tears of gratitude. Simply stated, aside from my very own family, Jack enabled me to do probably the best work in my life. Our collaboration included finding housing for hundreds of people, training facilities for our fire and police forces, after 40 years of trying. The seed for what was to become the Greenwich Emergency Medical Services was planted. Even commuters found more parking spaces available. None of this would have been possible without Jack's guidance and assistance. Do you remember the old Cos Cob Power plant? As you probably know, it has been torn down and is today Cos Cob Park, a lovely seaside place, where at least one aging, recovering stroke patient can now take some exercise. None of this would have been possible without Jack's help. Please know that there is no way I can thank you enough for the many good things Jack enabled me to do. Having been First Selectman from 1983 through 1985 will be my epitaph. Believers place faith in that every soul earns its rightful place with God based on what we do on this earth. In this, you can also be assured God looks kindly on an abundance of acts, either by him directly or through others, that speaks well of him to the divine spirit that put him here, me included.
I send to you, and your beautiful family, my heartfelt love, and pray that this dark time passes quickly for you, your children, and grandchildren. I will continue to thank God daily that Jack's life and mine intersected when they did.

With much love forever, Roger and Jenni Pearson

Thank you for sharing your father, husband, family member, and friend with the world. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Trout, but his work helped direct the course of my career significantly...and for that I am extremely grateful. May you experience peace and joy as you remember him.

Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow we feel for the Trout Family. We know Jack fought a long battle and are so sorry he lost it.

Jack leaves an enviable legacy. His numerous accomplishments especially developing the marketing concept of Positioning, will be embedded in the minds of marketing students and professionals for a lifetime. As readers turn the pages of his writings, nothing but admiration will prevail.

We hope and pray that you can gain strength from one another in order to endure this very painful time in your lives. May God bless you all, now and always.

Our thoughts are with the Troutbfamily.
Jack was a wonderful upbeat positive person in addition to being a marketing genius. We spent many years on the tennis court with him and will miss him.
