Jack Wojnowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11, 2022.
Jack Wojnowski
Aug. 30, 1940 - Dec. 5, 2022
Jack Wojnowski, 82, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away Dec. 5, 2022. He was born in Gary, Ind., Aug. 30, 1940, to Edwin Wojnowski and Eileen Buchner and grew up in LaPorte, Ind., and at 10 years old moved to Tucson, Ariz. He attended Catalina High School and was Arizona gymnastics state champion on the pommel horse in his junior and senior years. He met Patricia Frye at a high school dance and they were married in 1958. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1958-61 learning his profession as an Electronic Technician and serving on minesweepers off the California Coast.
Jack and Patricia then raised their family of three boys in Southern California and Tucson. After their sons all graduated high school, they moved to Vancouver, Wash., in 1985 to escape the desert heat and for Jack to work at PGE as a Computer and Communications Technician. He re-started his journey to getting a Bachelor's Degree at WSU in General Studies with minors in Psychology and Administration. After 30+ years and nine colleges/universities, he successfully graduated in 1992.
Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed dancing, car clubs, the Elks, computers, and family. In retirement, he worked independently as a webmaster, developing sites for various businesses and volunteer organizations, including his beloved Mt. Hood Region Cadillac and LaSalle Club and his high school class reunion websites. After 53 years of marriage, Patricia passed away in 2012.
In 2015, he met Jodie Hope while dancing at the Elks Club. They were married the next year and began sharing good times traveling, playing Scrabble, and shooting pool. Then at age 78, she introduced him to golf and he quickly excelled due to his gymnast upper body strength producing a strong swing. Known for his quick wit and dry humor, he was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jodie; her two daughters and grandchildren; his three sons, Chuck (Mark), David (Brenda), and Richard (Leslie); two grandchildren, Richard G. and Morgan; great-granddaughter, Quinn; sister, Sandra (Marion); and brothers, Keith (Shirley) and Gary (Reneé); and numerous cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and granddaughter, Sophia. A celebration of his life will be in late May (call 503-341-5955). Donations in his name may be made to the Clark County Veteran's Assistance Center or the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Hello friends of Jack: His friends in Tucson remember him with a smile and a wave. Our web master, Ray Lindstrom, wrote something nice on our chs1959 website; Jack was chs1958. He was a gymnastics ace, two years state champ. I suspect he took a long graceful leap into some wonderful place; Amen to that.

I shall always think of Jack as Spiderman because he put together a wonderful web page for our CHS Class of '58. He was a great guy, always the life of our reunions. My heartfelt condolences to Jodie and the rest of his family.

Jack was a kind, funny, welcoming and always helpful member of our CLC. Besides his photography talents, he put together our wonderful newsletter. He was so talented.

Jack was a great friend gone too soon.

Thinking of his family.

Yes, I remember the day
It was on the mourn
That I saw a ship a sailing
Sea was calm
Winds were fair
Flag it snapped
Home port was nigh
Jack still young
With cap boxed just right
And he was at the rail
With shipmates once again.---rs

Remembering many wonderful fun times; turkey legs, Yattaze, griping about Chrysler braking systems, long hot car shows, listing to how you and Jodi danced through the car museum. Are just a few of the highlights. We will miss you dear friend. John and Pat Donily

I met Jack (and Patricia) when we both hosted Japanese exchange students for 3 weeks back in the summer of 1990. We became fast friends and kept in touch for quite a while after our students left. I fell out of touch with Jack after Patricia passed away, but ran into him once at a Relay For Life meeting. I was just thinking about him a couple of weeks ago and was wondering how he was doing. He was a great guy with a good sense of humor. My condolences to his family.

Jack was a warm and loving human being, and his wit was as sharp as a tack, even to the very end. We were so lucky to have him in our lives. He will be very missed. Sincere condolences to Jodie, his family, and friends.
