Jack Young Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2025.
Whitesboro - Jack William Young, 90, of Whitesboro, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Jack was born on February 6, 1935 in Delaware Bend, Texas to William "Bill" and Vivian Lucille (Martin) Young. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School, the University of North Texas and Baylor Dental School. Jack was a much loved "children's" dentist in Midland before transitioning from drilling teeth to drilling oil. He was a true entrepreneur: starting a bank, an oil refinery, a candy company, and various other companies, as well as doing some diplomatic work. We could list numerous boards, clubs, and accomplishments, but he would not think that important. What was of most importance to him was his faith, the love of his life for 66 years, Myna, his six children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren and their beloved spouses.

He was wholly devoted to his family and friends. Throughout his life, he loved tennis, Ice cream, peaches, fish fries, long drives, being in nature, creating businesses, ranching (driving a tractor), hard work, being surrounded by family, and helping others. As his health declined, his humility, kindness, gratefulness, and trust shone even brighter. He was an extraordinary example of strength and grace to all who had the great honor of knowing him. Though he was the epitome of a gentleman, he was, at his core, a gentle man.

He is survived by his wife, Myna Stevens Young of Whitesboro; daughter, Marcee James, and husband, Grant of Fort Worth; daughter, Lynette Thweatt and husband, James of Dallas; daughter, Margaret Ann Young of Abilene; daughter, Kamee Cumbie, and her husband, Guy of Springtown; daughter, Kim Ross, and husband, Craig of McKinney; son, Steven Young and wife, April of Dallas, grandchildren, Will James, Holt James (Taryn), Jack Thweatt (Rachel), James Thweatt (Karla), Johnson Thweatt (Grace), Cate Cumbie, Allie Lebos, Austin Lebos, Lawson Young, Eli Young, and Truitt Young, great grandchildren, Georgia James, Hayes James, Alden James, Levi Thweatt, Daniel Thweatt, William Thweatt, and Rosie Thweatt, cousin John G. Young, and brother-in-law, Hank Lovejoy, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Vivian Young, sister, Verna Mayo, sister, Rita Lovejoy, brother Clinton Young, and his precious granddaughter, Sydney Thweatt.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Jack to Camp Sweeny at https://campsweeney.org/donate/ ; The Sydney Myna Thweatt Scholarship fund at https://www.pcstx.org/partner-with-us/ways-to-give ; or to the charity of your choice.

Funeral services honoring Jack will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Meador Funeral Home Whitesboro, officiated by grandson, Jack Thweatt. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
