Jackie Darris Holland Sr.

Jackie was special to me as he was my cousin and self-appointed guardian when I was a kid in a tough neighborhood. I have always looked up to him. He was a great example. I named my brother, Darris, after him with my parents' full approval. Their names derived from Darius The Great, an ancient Persian warrior and leader who was known for democratic ideals and projects of progress for his people. I'll always remember those Saturday's on Jake's front porch when Jackie and I listened on the radio to college football and music. Those were the days!
