Jacob Barnette Obituary
Mr. Barnette was born in 1937 in Savannah, Georgia. He was the only son of the late Jacob David Barnette Sr. and Ruth Barnette. He attended College Park High School in Atlanta and graduated in 1955. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a 40 year employee of Dixie Bearings, Inc. He loved the Lord, his wife, his family, the ocean and Georgia Tech football. He was a member of Kirkman Road United Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida where he served in various leadership positions and shared his faith and love of the Lord for 30 years. He was also a member of St James United Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia and served in leadership positions there as well. He was a man of faith, love and integrity.
Mr. Barnette married his lifelong love of 51 years Henri Ann "Penny" Barnette in 1965. God graced them with three daughters; Laura Morris, Karen Perez (Troy), and Laurel McKee (Gary); 4 grandchildren, Michael (Katie), Christopher (Ashley), Karissa and Erin; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Abel, Ryan, Kylie and Oliver.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Monday, December 26 ,2016 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.

David will be missed by many. He set a wonderful example to all who knew him by his strong faith and by being a man of integrity. He taught us how to serve others, how to stand strong in our faith and how to be strong, loving, compassionate Christians. He was a very gentle, caring, loving, father like figure to all of us at Kirkman Road United Methodist Church.
David made the BEST sausage gravy and biscuits of anyone I know and he made the BEST cornbread in the South!
David, we love you and miss you but rejoice that you will spend Christmas with Jesus this year.
