Jake Butcher,
I learned many things from you in the short few years I knew you! Your were such a True Gentleman a pleasure to know! I think of you and your words of wisdom often! May you rest in peace. Just wanted to say thank you! And you may be gone now, but, never forgotten!

Reflecting back to Jake's Funeral and Graveside service, a person would have to not be listing to miss who Jake was. His work ethic, Christian roots, vision and determination changed Knoxville. Seeds were planted that set the area in a proactive direction.
A favorite verse of mine stands out through many comments made about Jake.
Matthew 25:35-40
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
These principles and Jake are missed, but his family will continue on with the seeds planted in their hearts and challenged to move on.

Always remember Jake Butcher and his wife coming into the Gazebo in Gatlinburg, as well as Morton's Antiques.
They were always so gracious and kind to everyone.
Have been included at events at the Butcher home when Mrs Butcher honored Mrs Joan Mondale.
Suck as honor to have known them.
May God Bless, Comfort, and Protect the Extended Butcher Family.

Mr. Jake Butcher was a big man...in every sense of the word...as a man standing alone, as a husband and father...and as a businessman and citizen of Tennessee and the United States of America. Our paths crossed with Mr. and Mrs. Butcher so many years past as they visited our shop, The Gazebo, in Gatlinburg, They took time to converse and discuss important issues, our families, our children, our real reasons for getting up each morning, working hard and taking on the world. I'd hate to think that each of us might leave this world and not leave a "ripple", Jake Butcher leaves a good legacy, a huge wave, memories of Knoxville's World Fair, the permanency of Knoxville's skyline, Knoxville's moment of fame... his family, children and numerous friends. We are honored to have known him. Rest well, Jake.

So sorry for your loss, and the loss of many others he has helped along the way. I have known Jake most of my life, he was 4 mo. older than I, so we were always in the same class. Loved that family. May God give you comfort.

Mr Butcher was one of the nicest men I ever met! I worked at the bank and sang in Knoxville's All Girl Band. (The Nineteenth Amendment) We traveled with the bank and Mr Butcher on several occasions back in the 80's. He always made sure the band was taken care of and he was a great role model for the bank. Many prayers and Blessings go out to his family.....I will always remember that great smile.
