Jacob Stockl

Our beloved Jacob Stockl of Rahway NJ peacefully passed away on July 7,2024 surrounded by his loving family. Known by his family and friends as Jake he was born in the village of Elek, Hungary, on May 15,1936 and emigrated to America on Christmas Eve 1949 along with his parents Jakob and Magdalena and brother John. Jake lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his country.

Jake was an alumnus of Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth NJ and served with distinction in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1963.Throughout his life he never failed to display his unwavering patriotism for his adopted country. He subsequently embarked on a career at Merck Pharmaceuticals, where he was esteemed as a Production Manager, known for his leadership and dedication.

A man of deep faith, Jake was a long-standing honorary member of the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel. Jake's generous spirit was evident in his volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Joann's Food Pantry, where he offered his time and care to those in need.He also thoroughly enjoyed Bowling for Hunger to help raise money for local food pantries. His neighbors remember him fondly for his good humor, kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Jake was also an avid harmonica player who never left home without at least one harmonica in his pocket.He enjoyed sharing his talent with his church , family and friends and playing at the many coffee houses and clubs in the area.
In addition to music Jake was an avid sports fan who loved The NY Giants, The NY Yankees(formerly a Mets fan) and FC Bayern Munich

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved bride of sixty-six years, Carolyn, his children, Bob (Carol), Tom (Sharlene), and Jennifer (Ruben), his grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel, Richard , Catherine, Joshua, and Samuel, and his great-grandchildren, Danny, Luke, Noah, Quinn, and Nicholas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Magdalena and Jakob, and his brother, John.

The Stockl family invites the community to join them in paying their respects during the visitation on July 11, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Leher - Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 W Milton Ave, Rahway, NJ. The funeral service will be held on July 12, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Christian service at the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel 621 E Woodbridge Ave, Avenel, NJ, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery Lake Ave. Colonia

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Jake's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ,the RSD Syndrome Association or The First Presbyterian Church of Avenel in recognition of his lifelong commitment to charitable works.

May Jacob Stockl be remembered for his noble character and may he rest in peace, embraced by the love of our Heavenly Father.
