Oh Wow! I can´t believe you´re gone Jax. I was just looking you up on FB and your obituary appeared. This is so hard to believe.
I knew Jackie when she was Jackie Dabbs, (I always called her Jax). We were stationed in Pearl Harbor at the Makalapa clinic. I loved hanging out, or going shopping, with her. She was always up for an adventure. She was a great role model at work too.
She made her life her own. I´m so happy for her, she had many adventures, touched many lives and accomplished a lot in her short life.
Well Done Shipmate Well Done!
Jax, I know many are missing you.
Fair Winds and Following Seas my friend Rest In Peace.

Jackie was one of my best friends. We met in the 1980 in the Navy in San Diego. She got there and I thought she was a spoiled brat, well we became best friends and roommates. I have a lot of great memories of our times together. She was so spontaneous. I remember her coming into my office one Friday morning and saying pack your bags we are going to Jersey for the weekend and I laughed. Well we went to Jersey for the weekend and I got to meet her family, they treating me like family. I remember being in the air and just cracked up laughing and saying I can't believe we are going to Jersey. I had a great time there. We took many adventures together and they were all great. She was my maid of honor at my wedding almost 38 years ago. When we got stationed in other places we still kept in touch. Out of the blue one of us would call just to say hi and never lost a beat. She would do crazy things like drive from Jersey to South Carolina just for New Years Eve and only stay a day or so, we would always leave off were there was no separation. We called for birthdays and just because. I will miss that spontaneous reaction from her. She will be deeply missed by me, and I will never forget you Jackie and I will always cherish the many memories we had together. Love you Jackie may you rest in peace. I know you will be looking down and I will always look up at you. Miss you already. Love you. God Bless your family.

Jackie was the absolute best. I worked with her briefly at the Wildwood DOL office, her longtime station. I didn't get to know her for long, but a few things struck me about her. The Navy made its mark on her: she was forthright in her determination to do her job and do it well. She was not afraid to take the lead and do what needed doing, even if that might mean stepping out of her assigned role. She actually ended up having her job description changed to accommodate what she was doing--and she was better at my job than I was!
Jackie was a real firebrand. She had a ton of great stories from her time in the service and she told them with sly smile and a gleam in her eye. She impressed me as someone who usually got her way because she was smart, confident, and unafraid.
Jackie was not just tough, she was also caring. She cared for her family and she cared for her clients, the community of Veterans. She would go out of her way to help a fellow Vet in any way she could, even if that might mean side-stepping the rules. Jackie was no bureaucrat: she unapologetically did what she thought was right.
I knew as soon as I met her that she was someone from whom I could learn a lot, and I made it a point to talk to her every time I came through the office. I am saddened to learn of her passing. The community has lost a great and caring friend.

Jackie was a fellow DVOP that I saw at our annual training in Trenton. Jackie was always polite and kept a smile on her face. I would joke with her about working in Cape May, especially during the summer and she would laugh. To Jackie's family, thanks for sharing her with us. May she rest in peace.
