Jacqueline Molek Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 12, 2025.
Jacqueline Joyce Molek, 94, of Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully in Monongahela on July 8, 2025. Born July 2, 1931, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of Harry and Helen Hornbake.

A romantic at heart, Jacqueline cherished life's quiet joys. Whether curling up with a good book, stitching yo-yo quilts, solving puzzles, or playing bingo, these moments brought her peace. Her love for Gone with the Wind showed a fondness for timeless tales. The windowsill, lined with propagated cuttings, expressed her quiet care for living things. Her family fondly remembers her lively spirit, especially her dancing the Twist to Chubby Checker's music.

In her younger years, Jacqueline developed a deep sense of duty to the less fortunate, often feeding the homeless who gathered on the church steps each evening. This compassion stayed with her.

Throughout her life, Jacqueline worked at several Charleroi-area businesses, including Rego's, Murphy's Five and Dime, a coffee shop, and others.

Jacqueline was mother to ten children-two with her first husband, Robert Hartsock, and eight with her second, John Molek, her husband for 35 years. Her home was a place of laughter, music, tales, picnics, and berry pies-a wonderfully wild home.

She is remembered with love by her eight surviving children: Cynthia Impiccini, Kathleen Marran, Jonny Petros, John Molek, Mary Molek, Lisa Scherer, Jennifer Molek, and Betty Lou Grguric; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and her half-sister, Mary Rita Reabe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry Hornbake; her sister, Mary Hornbake; her half-brother, Howard Reabe; and two daughters, Tammy Robin Burkley and Heather Lyn Fister.

A private memorial will be held at the family's request.
