Jacqueline Pointer

Jacqueline "Jackie" Pointer, age 77, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on February 18, 1946, daughter of the late Rufus Jack and Marion Norma (Van Duinen) Wilson.

Jackie was a member of Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church where she volunteered for many projects including making prayer shawls, participating on the prayer line, and assisting in the library. She also volunteered at Asbury Woods Nature Center, Hospice, and the local community theater. She was a Dominican Associate with the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids, MI. and a member of the Red Hat Society in Erie. When she was not busy volunteering, she liked to do crafty projects including making cards for others, teaching ceramics and participating with knitting and crocheting groups. Her love of the arts transferred to the theater and symphony, as well. She always looked forward to the Pops concerts and any Broadway musical that came to town.

Jackie is best described as independent, resilient, and social. She was very good at making friends and putting people to ease when they first met. Family was important to her, which showed in the way she took care of her mother and grandmother and interacted with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new things and always talked about her trip to Alaska.

Jackie is survived by her three children, daughter, Theresa (Ron) Herrera of Erie, and two sons, Steve (Cynthia) Pointer of Virginia, and James (Virginia) Pointer of Minneapolis; and six grandchildren, Joshua, Elijah, Gracie, Gabriel, Ezekiel, and Esther.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, 837 Bartlett Road, on Wednesday, January 31st at 10 am. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Erie City Mission, or Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church.
