Somehow I missed this news. Dr. Jacqueline Salas was the best piano teacher I ever had. She taught me beautifully while respecting my Jazz sensibilities. I actually wrote an instrumental entitled “Jacqueline” on the Chris Ho “Growing Up” album. It’s been played all over the world.
Rest in peace Mi Maestra.❤❤
Con mucho cariño,

I just found out from a church friend that my sweet Jacquie is no longer here with us. I’m so sorry for her family’s loss because she was so lovely and spunky. I knew her from church and CSUN. When I was a student, I would come over and visit her in the new music building. She helped me get the CSO up and running again, and then Mr. T came and spoke on our church’s behalf. We had so much fun planning the event, and she supported me all the way. I know she is going on and shining in heaven with her beautiful smile and vivacious personality. She is already missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn about Dr. Jacqueline Salass passing. I was browsing the internet to see if my former piano coach is still giving lessons. I had not been in touch for so many years, but will always remember how wonderful Dr. Salas was to me when she coached me -an adult music student - pass the audition for the CSUN program. Dr. Salas was loving, warm, funny, extremely wise and of course an expert educator and musician. I admired her greatly and marveled at her tremendous people skills. She knew how to reach her students and get them to play piano with confidence. I still remember her lovely home with the two pianos and how she was my first piano professor to ease me into the program. May she Rest In Peace. Im sorry for her familys loss even at this late date. May her memory be a blessing.

I just found out about Dr. Salas' passing. Shocked and sad. I met her while a student at CSUN. Just now, I was looking her up to see if she was still giving private lessons, as I was her student in the 1980's who took lessons at her lovely Chatsworth home. She was one of my favorite people. I remember her beautiful mother and her adorable spaniel Blondie. She encouraged me and helped me lose some bad habits with regard to my piano playing. She helped me to play with confidence. She was a brilliant performer and teacher. We used to chat about Chile and about one of her and my favorite pianists, Claudio Arrau. I will miss her dearly.

I was greatly saddened to hear the news of her passing. She was a vibrant, kind, and giving soul. She gave me a wonderful introduction into the world of piano pedagogy and childrens piano music, and I will forever appreciate her loving, steadfast support.

I am very sad to hear of Dr. Salas' passing. I was one of her piano students at CSUN from 1983-1984. She was a wonderfully gifted teacher with a passion for music and performance. She truly loved teaching and watching her students perform. Sending blessings to her family.

I am so saddened to learn of Dr. Jacqueline Salas ' passing. I have fond memories of performing my flute with her accompaniment and of her own solos as well for the Stanford Professional Women Club a number of years ago. Her infectious spirit shone broadly not only in her performance but her life....

My heart is sad to hear of your loss, Mark. Jacqueline lived every day to the fullest and left an imprint of everyone she touched. Nothing was missed in her love of the big and beautiful things of life... Im thinking of her flocked Christmas trees, her beautiful dresses, her exclamations and names of endearment, her training in stage presence, her interest in our lives, the sound that she knew you could achieve on the piano, her love of chocolate and treats :)... She will be missed, and the hole she leaves is testament to how loved she was ❤.

It is because of Jacqueline Salas that I can play the piano the way I do. I studied with her a child and the hallmarks of her Russian-schooled teaching were my pianistic foundation and still ring out in my ears.. "Big, loose wrists and big sounds, darling"... I'll always remember her positivity and energy of spirit. Condolences to her loved ones.

My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Dr. Salas. She was indeed a light that brightened up the music building at CSU Northridge. She always was patient and kind to us students who needed the encouragement to do our best in her piano class. I never knew anyone to have an ill word to say about her as a professor nor as a person. May God Bless her memory. With Love!

My deepest condolences to Dr.Salas's family and loved ones.
Dr.Salas,
You brought so much joy. You had a zest, spiciness, energy and passion to life that anyone who you came across was affected by. I still think the way you walked into class every morning was radiating, and you know how much I hated morning classes, but I loved yours. You were fabulous! Your outfits were amazing. Your smile was infectious. And everyone who had a class with you will always think of you when we hear or play misty.
I'm so glad we shared the moments we did, and I still mean every word and more in that email I sent you.
RIP - you will be missed by so many.

Dr. Salas was more than a teacher and mentor, she was my friend. I studied piano with her privately for most of my childhood. Jackie even played the piano at my wedding as I walked down the isle. Our lessons were part music, part therapy as we talked about anything and everything at my weekly lessons. I have some of my fondest memories playing in her recitals. She was always inspiring me to try harder and be a better person. She will be missed dearly.

To the Salas family,
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. As a CSUN music student, I had the priviledge of taking 3 piano classes with Dr. Jacqueline Maria Salas. I remember her smile that she would always give to us every day in class which was able to brighten anyone's mood. I was touched every time she spoke about the Lord in class, not in a pushy way, but because she loved Him. I was impressed by how gracious she was to her students: how she helped them to succeed and how she acknowledged when she was mistaken. My prayer to all in the family is that you would be loved and comforted as you mourn for Dr. Salas. She is with the Lord in paradise now without suffering or sorrow. May you love and be loved from now until your final days.
