Jacqueline Vandagriff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2016.
Jacqueline "Jackie" Vandagriff passed from this life on to her eternal home on September 14, 2016. She was born on March 4, 1992, in Carrollton, Texas, the youngest of two daughters. She grew up in The Colony and Frisco, Texas.

As a child, Jackie loved "Thomas the Tank Engine" and enjoyed reenacting the shows on her own train set. Jackie was also a kinetic child, learning to somersault before learning to walk. At the age of three she started gymnastics at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA), eventually competing at Level 5 in state competition.

Jackie was known for her patriotic spirit. She enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. She enjoyed the annual Army v. Navy football game ("Go Navy, Beat Army!"), as well as viewing the presidential election debates and election returns. Jackie loved reading presidential speeches and enjoyed studying American history and current events. When she sang "Proud to be an American", a capella, to Col. William Sloan, a retired Air Force officer, he said that it was one of his fondest memories. She truly was proud to be an American, grateful to those who sacrificed to make our country great.

Friends and family remember Jackie as a caring, loving, compassionate person who always strove to help others. Her main passion was to help everyone see their own beauty and talents. She encouraged all of her friends to pursue their dreams. Her compassion also extended to animals. Jackie was a lifelong vegetarian and supported adopting animals from no-kill shelters.

Jackie attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church in McKinney, Texas. Her favorite colors were yellow and purple. Jackie was an avid reader. She especially loved the "Harry Potter" series by J. K. Rowling, the "Georgia Nicholson" series by Louise Rennison, "Breakfast at Tiffany's", and, her favorite, "The Count of Monte Cristo". Some of her favorite musical artists were Rob Thomas, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Pink, and Andrew McMahon. Jackie also loved musicals, especially "Rent".

Jackie graduated from Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas, and went on to become a licensed esthetician via the Paul Mitchell School for Cosmetology. She then attended Texas Woman's University to major in Nutrition and Food Science.

Jackie loved spending time with her friends in Texas and visiting her friends and relatives across the country. She could often be found with her friends at the Preston Highlands Park near her home.

Jackie's legacy and memory lives on through her parents, Rick and Sonja Vandagriff of Frisco, TX; her sister, Genny Vandagriff of Little Elm, TX; her grandparents, Ron and Shirley Vandagriff of Fairborn, OH; her grandparents, Gene and Ione Fasbinder of Beavercreek, OH; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from all over the United States.

Jackie will be desperately missed by her parents, sister, family and friends. May memories of her warm, vibrant, enthusiastic personality and her constant words of love and encouragement continue to inspire and comfort those who were touched by her life.

It is with such a heavy heart that I find myself writing this. I am so pleased that I made a last minute decision to go to the Container Store, where I bumped into you for the first time in many years. I was shocked to hear about the tragedy Jackie endured. My memories of her bubbly personality is something I will never forget. The entire gym adored her! As little as she was physically, her personality was felt by everybody. Both my girls adored her. They are mortified to hear about this senseless tragedy.

We will always remember Jackie as the warm, vibrant, happy person she was. My thoughts are with you, Rick and Genny. May she Rest In Peace

Jackie and I worked together at Ulta. I had the pleasure of interviewing her and working her. She was very intelligent, we won a competition during our training because she was on my team. May God bless your family and strengthen them during this difficult time. Jackie you will be missed! My Benebabe!

Jackie,

We met through twitter 3 years ago and you quickly became my "long distance best friend". I'm going to miss you so much. You were always there for me when I needed someone, no matter what time of day. It could be 3 am and you would stay up with me for hours just letting me cry. You were one of my biggest supporters throughout my pregnancy and through my daughter's surgery. Whether it was praying for her or just messaging me to get my mind off of being in the NICU, you were always there. Tegan is so blessed to have such a beautiful angel who will watch over her. I miss you so much Jackie. I'm so honored to have known you.

Jackie Rae,
My favorite strawberry blonde, my favorite vegetarian, my favorite other Jackie! I'm not fully whole without you anymore, but I know that will heal because you will always be apart of me. Your silly stories and hilarious random phone calls always kept our friendship lively and there was never a dull moment even if we were just sitting on the couch watching TV. I'll never forget you. You're unforgettable and someone I'll always have the pleasure of calling my best friend.

Jackie,

Nothing in my life can compare to the amount of heartache I've been going through since you left us. I'm seeing the world through different glasses, most things are darker, a few things are brighter. I promise to harness the bit of light I see and use it to keep myself and your other loved ones strong. I miss you now, and I'll miss you every day. I hope you know just how much you are loved. Your laugh and the way you would throw your head back and pat your knee will forever be in my heart. What I would give to turn back time and spend one last day just laying around laughing with you. RIP sweet girl <3

I met Jacqueline over 6 years ago in Florida while she was training for her job at Sephora. I have never forgotten her since. Jacqueline was unique, beautiful, and smart. I immediately noticed her big bright smile, and gorgeous strawberry blonde hair. I remember thinking how small she was, but her personality was large, we were both pieces as well and loved animals. Jacqueline will always remain in my heart and I as blessed to have known her for a brief time. I want to send my love and prayers to her family and her friends, as If knowing her for a short time, and feeling the loss, I cannot imagine the pain everyone must be feeling at this time. If there is any comfort, know that Jacqueline was truly a gift to everyone she touched. All my love

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. Take comfort in knowing you now have a special guardian angel to watch over you. Love, Aunt Loretta

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter Jackie. Ever since your mom Shirley told me I have been praying for Jackie and all of your family. My heart aches for all of you.

Your mom has keep me informed of all of you while you were growing up and we shared pictures of our grandchildren.

In reading the obituary, I realized that Jackie had a lot of the same wonderful qualities and interest as my grandchildren, such as the gymnastics and her interest in animal rescue. It is because of this interest we plan to donate to the rescue center that she requested in her honor.

Sincerely,
Kathy and Doug Taylor

I am so sorry for your loss . Although your hearts are filled with pain and sorrow , my prayer is that you gain comfort and hope from God's promise to reunite us with loved ones on the earth , never having to say goodbye again . For Jesus will make this earth the problem-free paradise that his Father intended it to be . I have gained comfort and strength from this promise , may your family do the same .
