Jacques Grelley Obituary
Born in France, he was a race car driver during the late 50's. Following a race at Sebring, he decided to immigrate to the US, landing first in Georgia in 1961. He then moved to Chicago, where he opened the restaurant "Frères Jacques". He then worked for the French wine company "Nicolas" and was transferred to Arlington, Texas to cover the southern states.
His real passion was always automobile racing for which he became an historian and a living encyclopedia. He was the friend of the greatest racers from Juan Manuel Fangio to Carroll Shelby. Born in Normandy, but nationalized US citizen, chance made him the only American having witnessed the 1944 landing from the cliffs of Omaha Beach where he was playing as a kid. He was regularly invited to yearly WWII commemorations.
Friends may pay respects at Moore Funeral Home on Thursday September 11 after 2 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Moore Chapel at 3 pm, followed by a reception.

My late wife Carole and I always looked forward to one of Jacques' impromptu visits to MOTODELTA, our European car repair shop in Chicago. Carole enjoy chatting with Jacques, in French and he never failed to indulge her wish. Adieu Cher Jacques.
