I was sorry to see the announcement of the memorial service the day after it occurred. I have driven by the Andrews' old house on 20S from time to time and have wondered where its gentle occupants were.

I met Dr. Andrews years ago when he was an appreciative regular at the C&O Restaurant where I was working. He had a warmth and dignity and was a favorite of the staff.

Although I cannot imagine asking to see a specialist today without going through the primary physician, insurance hassle of today, I needed help a couple of times, once for a fairly serious kitchen burn. He took time to see me the same day, and, knowing I did not have insurance, did not charge for treatment. God keep you, Dr. Andrews!

James Andrews, MD,
A better and more engaging uncle there will never be. Uncle Jim gifted me with an example of how a man should live and treat others in life; with dignity, respect and pride.
He provided me in the end with an example of how a man also should die and transition; with that same dignity and respect.; no regrets and no apologies; just thanks for a full and happy life.
His glass was always OVER half full.
I will miss and love this wonderful man always. I will cherish his many accounts of relatives long past. Never a sour word was uttered of any, even if arguably deserved.
The world became a much less interesting place on August 30th, 2009.
Nephew, Scotty.
