James M. "Jim" Barnett



James M. Barnett (Jim) passed on Sunday, March 11, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Nelda; son, Richard and his wife, Debbie and their children, Tyler and wife, Alice, daughter, Krista and fiance, Mark Kibler; daughter, Rebecca and husband, Bob Dumas and their children, son, Chris and wife, Heather, and their children, Avery and Taylor; son, Jeremy and wife, Nicolette; Cathalina, wife of the late Jeff Dumas and their children, Corina, Joseph, and Valerie; several nieces and nephews; several special friends from Exxon-Mobil and special friends from his neighborhood. James was proceeded in death by his parents, Newt and Escar; his brothers, Kenny and Allen; and sister, Mary Jo. He proudly served during WWII in the 310th Field Artillery Battalion of the 79th Infantry Division in England, France and Germany. After the war he married Nelda and began a 37 year career with Exxonâ€"Mobil. They moved often and eventually retired in Albuquerque. James was an avid volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Open Space, Neighborhood Watch and could often be seen cleaning the roadsides of his community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be Thursday, March 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH â€" Lomas. Private services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery with honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, make a donation to your favorite charity.
