Kapa'a, Hawaii - On August 2, 2022, James (Jim) L. Bebee died unexpectedly living his best life while vacationing in Kapa'a, Kauai. He was 76 years old.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth, of Richland, Washington; his children, Susan Bebee (Richland, Washington) and Deanna Bebee Rodovsky and Tom Rodovsky (Seattle, Washington). He was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Violet Bebee and Gladys Shoat; his siblings Robert (Bob) Bebee, Barbara Brown, Vivian (Diane) Bebee, and Richard Allison; and Tiger, the greatest cat of all time.
Jim was born on May 16, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended Laurelwood Academy and later graduated from Portland Adventist Academy in 1964. He went on to attend Walla Walla College (now University) and later Portland State University where he graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Jim held many different roles throughout his lifetime given his keen and continued acumen for business, computers, and project management. His innovative ideas and skills in management and computer science were used at multiple companies, including Washington Public Power Supply System, Battelle, Bechtel, Mission Support Alliance, and Hanford Mission Integration Solutions.
Jim married Ruth, the love of his life, in 1968. They met in Portland, Oregon and formed the foundation of a lifelong friendship and marriage full of happiness, sincerity, and everlasting love. They welcomed Susan in 1970 and Deanna in 1973. Jim enjoyed his fast 1968 Pontiac GTO and slow Sundays (Sports!), was an avid reader, and devoted his life to the Lord. Jim never met a stranger given his knack for quick introductions and long conversations. Jim loved people. In retirement, Jim remained active in church ministry, travel, and continued support of the rising generations through various charities and endowments.
A celebration-of-life service for Jim will be held on November 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Pasco Riverview SDA Church located at 605 Road 36, Pasco, Washington.
