Jim was one of the kindest, most unassuming people I ever met. In the early 1980's, I was 19 years old and attending sessions of the Lima Area Woodcarvers. It was mainly a lot people much older than I was, but they all were very welcoming and Jim was one of my favorites. I eventually began my first year at the Ohio State branch campus, and one day bumped into Jim out there. Surprised, I said, "Jim! What are you doing here?" He smiled and shrugged slightly and then responded, "Oh, I have an office here." We chatted very briefly and then continued on our way. I didn't realize until weeks later, from another source, that "Jim" from wood club was also Dean James Biddle!
I moved away by the end of that 1st year, but I've always remembered Jim and how sweet he was to not embarrass me that day by saying who he actually was. Reading his obituary sounds like he was a good, kind man all of his life. I'm glad to have met him!

What a blessing Mr. B. has been in my life from the first day I met him , Judie and the girls as well as the ladies taking care of the Biddle's. Mr. B will always be a friend and a bother in Christ throughout eternity.

Judie, you and Jim were a team. Even before you worked for LTC, you were working with Jim to provide wonderful Christmas treats or plants for all of the combined OSU/LTC staff. After Jim, there wasn´t an OSU president that even acknowledged LTC. He was a kind, considerate, and admired man. We enjoyed visits to your house and Jim was always so friendly. I felt like it was a friend to friend after he left the campus. While at the campus I had much respect for him and felt like he was part of the college family. He always had a smile. I´m so sorry for your loss. God Bless you.

My condolences to you Judie. Jim had a significant impact on me when I worked on campus. I appreciated his candor, authenticity, and honesty. I have the beautiful pelican he made, and I've often spoken of what he told me it represented: nurturing, wisdom, and generosity. The perfect representation of Jim. I'm grateful to have known him.
