Jim and I have been friends and colleagues since 1964 when we met at Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Years later, Jim became my district superintendent when I was the pastor at Peace Temple in Benton Harbor. He was a man for whom I developed deep affection and appreciation. I enjoyed hearing him recite poetry in his rich, deep baritone voice. I will profoundly miss our frequent 'phone conversations following my retirement. Well done, good and faithful servant of the Lord.

And then Jim left the school in Ohio and I next saw him when I was doing additional study at Garrett. Then we rubbed elbows again when I was leading a seminar at Pastyor's
