James Breeden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2024.
James Michael Breeden, affectionately known as Jimmy to those who knew him best, entered this world on December 14, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland. His life came to a peaceful close on March 27, 2024, in Willis, Texas. Surrounded by the serenity of his home, Jimmy's final moments were spent hand-in-hand with his wife, marking a poignant end to his courageous battle against chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Parkinson's Disease related to Agent Orange exposure during his distinguished service with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Vietnam War.

After his military service, James pursued education at the University of Baltimore. He contributed to his community in diverse service roles-from a dedicated substitute history teacher to a respected Baltimore police officer. James eventually retired as a detective from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for helping people led him to real estate, where he founded and operated 5% Realty Company in Linthicum, Maryland, before relocating to Texas. Settling in Willis, Texas, he retired near Lake Conroe, a nod to his Maryland roots growing up on the Chesapeake Bay.

James is remembered with love by his wife, Linda Diane Breeden; daughters, Julie and Michelle; siblings, Earlyn, Gail, Sue, and Charlie; and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Earlyn Breeden, stepfather, James Breeden, and father, Thomas League.

A patriot at heart, James's legacy is marked by his deep commitment to service for his country, community, and family. A private Celebration of Life will honor his memory in Texas and Pennsylvania. The family respectfully suggests donations to Veterans for Peace (VAORRC) in lieu of flowers to support the Vietnam Agent Orange Relief & Responsibility Campaign, PO BOX 303 - Prince Station, New York, NY 10012-0006. Please make checks payable to Veterans for Peace or donate online at www.veteransforpeace.org.

Have so many wonderful fun memories of Jimmy. Many wonderful dinner parties and games of Chicken Foot. He would often have us rolling in laughter, he was definitely the life of the party. Jimmy deeply loved his country, his family and his friends. God bless you Jimmy on your continued journey. Love ya lots.

I wish I would have been able to say good-bye. Now you're up there with Uncle Bruce and if there's beer in the afterlife I know you're catching up on old times. I keep thinking about all the little things. There are so many. We're all getting together for brunch and I'm writing a eulogy / essay piece because I know you wouldn't have wanted us sitting around feeling sorry. You'd rather us remember all the stories because you were always larger than life. Afterall, life begins and ends with a story and you deserved to have someone write yours. I love you, Dad. Say "hello" to Uncle Bruce for me!
