Tucson - James Robert Burke Jr., who worked for Those Who Care Inc., in Tucson for 11 years, died on May 3, 2024 at his home in Tucson. He was 78. Born in Evanston, Ill., on March 31, 1946, and raised in Chicago with his brother John Patrick (1944-2022) and sisters Mary and Cathy, Jim served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret from1968 to1972. Afterward, he worked with a social service agency in Maine, and was a salesman in Connecticut before moving to Tucson. He leaves behind his sisters, sister-in-law Sara Burke of St. Louis, former wife Judy Cunningham of Erlanger, Ky., niece, Zoey Russo, nephews John and Jesse Russo and friends he made in Tucson and around the country. Jim will be buried alongside his father and mother, James and Frances Burke, in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
