James Butler

James "Jim" Lee Butler passed away peacefully at his home in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, on February 21, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 29, 1943, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Raymond Butler and Lucille Butler Borden.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Susan Thomas Butler. He also leaves behind his children: Jimmy Butler of Memphis; Jason Butler (Regina) of Memphis; Jackie Ryan (Jeremy) of Collierville; Brian Murphree of Bartlett; and Sara Smith (Darren) of Bartlett. His cherished grandchildren-Lauren Butler, Katelyn Butler, Hayley Butler, Madelyn Woodard, Drake Murphree, Preston Butler, Carter Smith, Braeden Smith, Kali Ryan, and Eli Murphree-along with five great-grandchildren, will forever hold dear the special memories they shared with him. Jim is also survived by his brother, Darrell Butler (Jean) of Paducah, Kentucky, and his sister, Pat Wilson (Nick) of Bartlett.

Despite facing significant health challenges in his later years, Jim remained steadfast in his love for his family. Each night, he made sure to send messages to his loved ones as a reminder of his unwavering affection.

A celebration of Jim's life will be planned at a later date in Memphis. May he rest in eternal peace and continue to shine over those who loved him.
