James David Cabe

James David Cabe, fondly known as David, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2025, in Lubbock, TX, at the age of 84. David was born on August 20, 1940, in Lamesa, TX, and embodied warmth, kindness, and unwavering optimism throughout his life.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, David shared a beautiful marriage with his late wife, Barbara Bishop Cabe, for over 50 wonderful years. Together, they embarked on more than 20 cruises, creating cherished memories with friends and family as they explored many countries and parts of the world. His love for travel was closely rivaled by his passion for the Texas Tech Red Raiders sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs, eagerly supporting his teams with an infectious zeal.

David served his country with honor in the US Army and the National Guard, ultimately retiring as a Major. His dedication to community service shone brightly through his involvement with the First Baptist Church in Tulia, Texas where he was a beloved member for decades.

He was loved and supported by many people in the Casteneda family, enjoyed his favorite hangout in the Warren and Mitch homes as well as spending time with one of his favorite people, Cousin Christina Puente. He loved spending time and asking about Tito, Popcorn, Flosito and Bo who were his most 'favorite' dogs and part of his family.

Known for his warm demeanor, David never met a stranger he couldn't turn into a friend. His genuine kindness and ever-present smile left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to meet him.

David is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd Cabe and Gracie and David W. Cabe and Misty, four grandchildren, Desseray, Sierra, Zoe, Kian; three great grandchildren Arianna, Miracle, C.J and a bonus brother Jodi Warren.

David will be forever in our memories, each person will have their own memories, but rest assured any clip of M.A.S.H, a cruise ship story, great love story or an amazing play for one of his favorite teams will spur memories of David for all. Rest peacefully David with your beautiful bride.
