James Edward Carlisle

James Edward Carlisle, aged 84, passed away on September 20, 2024, in Jenison, Michigan. Born on April 11, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, James was a loving and generous man, cherished by his family and friends, and known for his kindness and witty sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona Carlisle; a brother, Thomas Carlisle; and a sister, Ann Carlisle Stolemeier. James grew up and was a long time resident of the south side of Des Moines; attending Saint Anthony's Catholic School and graduating from Dowling High School. He briefly attended The University of Iowa before embarking on a dedicated career with Amway Corporation, where he worked from 1980 until his retirement in 1998, moving from Des Moines, Iowa, to Ada, Michigan, during his tenure.

James was dedicated to his faith and was an active member of several Catholic churches, including Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Des Moines, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, Florida, and Holy Redeemer Parish in Jenison, Michigan.

James had a passion for classic cars, which he lovingly restored and showed at various events. He also enjoyed designing and building model trains and watching Iowa Hawkeyes football. James is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters Kim Carlisle and Kerri Bosch; son-in-law Christopher Bosch; grandson and wife Jacob and Jess Bosch; granddaughter Kate Bosch; and great grandson Theo Bosch. A celebration of Life mass will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, October 3rd at Holy Redeemer Parish in Jenison Michigan. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Waterford Place, 1725 Port Sheldon St., Jenison, Michigan.
