James V. Carr (Jim), 78, US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim was retired from the City of Chicago Department of Aviation, working at Chicago's airports for many years. Passed away September 2, 2023. Beloved husband of Joan Carr, nee Baker. Loving father of Brian (Denise) Carr and the late Ann Carr. Proud grandfather of Kevin, Jason, and the late Stephanie. Brother of Thomas Carr, Michelle Carr and Mary (Joseph) Potocnic. Brother-in-law of Cecelia Nassif, Patricia (Dave) Sheets, Susan (Martin) Lewin and the late Terrence Baker. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the M J Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N Northwest Hwy., Chicago from 4 - 8 pm. Please bring pictures with memories of Jim to share with the family.

Funeral Friday, September 15, 2023. Family and friends gather at 9:30 a.m. at St Viator Catholic Church, 4170 W. Addison, Chicago, IL. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, IL. A luncheon at the Lone Tree Manor will follow immediately after the interment, located at 7730 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niles VFW Post 3579, 7256 N Caldwell, Niles, IL 60714.

I met Jim in Schurz high school. We used to hang out at Henry's drive-in on Milwaukee and Foster. We shared our love for fast cars. He was a groomsman at my first wedding. We reconnected several years ago and he will be missed.

Joanie and family. We are so sorry. Jimmy was and will be my special cuz. He brought me through a lot of bad times and made me smile all the time. We are so glad we had a chance to see him last summer in Oak Brook. RIP Jimmy, you are loved.
