James Collins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
James "Jim" Michael Collins, 86, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Middletown, Connecticut. He will be deeply missed by his devoted lifelong friend Jerry Mason, his brother Jerry Collins, and the many family members and friends who cherished his presence.

Jim was a generous and selfless man, known for his thought-provoking conversations, keen listening skills, and sharp sense of humor. A voracious reader and a master of technology, he possessed an insatiable curiosity that kept him engaged with the world around him. His talents extended beyond intellect-he was remarkably skilled at painting and wallpapering and had an eye for discovering unique heirloom furniture and collectibles. He also took great pride in making a "mean" beef burgundy casserole.

Jim earned his bachelor's degree from St. Michael's College and later obtained a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. His education reflected his lifelong love of learning and intellectual exploration.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the compassionate palliative care staff at Middlesex Health in Middletown for their dedicated support. Deep appreciation is also given to Jim's friends and the staff at Luther Ridge in Middletown for their kindness and shared memories.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, no service will be held. His family invites those who knew him to honor his legacy in their own meaningful way. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
