Margaret and David, and all the family:
Lucille and I were shocked to hear of Jim's passing. We thought he would be with us forever, but it reminds us we are all getting older. Our deepest sympathy for you all. Jim will be sorely missed by many in and around Pittsburgh. We worked together in the AIChE Pittsburgh Section for over thirty years, and, partly because of Jim's unique efforts, I know we made a difference to our profession and the young students and engineers we worked with. I am grateful for the many fond memories with Jim and Margaret.

Dear Jim, Phil, David, and family - So sorry to hear about your father's passing. I have many fond memories of our shared boyhood adventures - "flying" with your dad in the backseat of the family station wagon on the way to Twin Echo and building "science projects" whenever cub scout meetings were held at your house. I'm sure that he will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dear Jim, Phil, David, and Mrs. Conrad - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Conrad. My brother Doug sent me the notice. I want you to know that my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time of sorrow and loss. But, as your lovely obituary states, it is the wonderful memories of one's loved ones that is so important and remain with us so long after they are gone. Regards, Heather

I remember Jim as we were building USS Pittsburgh SSN 720 in Groton. He loved the entire process, and was willing to do anything to help. Margaret was one of the sweetest people in all of Pittsburgh. Ray Setser Capt USN(Ret), Commissioning Commanding Officer, USS Pittsburgh SSN 720.

I didn't know Mr. Conrad, but I read his obituary anyhow because I was drawn in by the impishness of the photograph, and hoped that it wasn't the picture of a dead child.

I am certain that he wrote this obituary himself, and all I can say is that I wish I had known him. His modesty and his sense of humor speak for themselves.

My sincere condolences on his loss.
