James N. Correll

LEWISBURG - James N. Correll, 84, of 1019 St. Paul St., passed away early Monday morning, May 18, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.
A native of Bethlehem, he was born April 21, 1925, a son of the late Sylvester and Jane (Wein) Correll. He was married to the former Marilyn Adams, of West Milton, who survives.
Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy in the Pacific from 1942-46.
He retired as a manager from the Harrisburg office of Bell Telephone Co. in 1981 after 35 years of service.
In his earlier days, he played for a band in Bethlehem and later played in the Bell Telephone Band in Harrisburg. Jim and his family moved to Costa Rica for six years after his retirement, then moved to Lewisburg. Jim drove school bus in the Milton area for two years and then for five years for the Lewisburg Area School District through Amity Leasing.
Jim was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, serving as usher, singing in the choir and helping in other areas as needed. He was an emergency medical technician with the William Cameron Engine Company, a member and past president of the Lewisburg Lions Club, a member and past commander of Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post 182, Lewisburg, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7715 and had volunteered for the Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James N. Correll Jr. and Thomas Correll, both of Harrisburg, and Roger Correll of Harmony; two daughters, Susan Saxton of Columbia Cross Roads and Karen Correll of Wolburn, Mass.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one brother in infancy in 1930 and one sister in 1979.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. Paula M. Gustafson, officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Military services will be provided by Lewisburg area veterans.
