James Coyne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2020.
James "Jamie" Edward Coyne 09/29/1938 – 07/26/2020 James Coyne, 81, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Cape Coral, FL. His wife, Renee, was by his side. Jamie had lived a full and interesting life. Following a brief career as a union truck driver, Jamie was drawn to the hustle and bustle of the Maxwell Street Market in Chicago's near West side. Here, he staked his claim on location for selling, made an abundance of friends, and started his "junk" business (as we lovingly called it). Jamie received a Completion Certificate for Electronics from Coyne American Institute (now Coyne College). With this knowledge and hands on experience of many other trades including plumbing, carpentry, and drywall, he became an irreplaceable handyman. He was a Jack of all trades. Jamie's problem solving abilities for building and construction were astonishing. His physical strength and perseverance were beyond compare. Jamie also had many personal interests. Traveling was pretty high on his list and offered him many trips both domestic and abroad. He loved history, enjoyed visiting historical places, and had a very interesting way of story telling historical events. James Edward Coyne is the son of the late John and Catherine Coyne, nee Higgins. He is survived by his wife Renee Coyne, nee Stein; his children Colleen (Scott Kosnak) Coyne, Jacqueline (Robert) Knudsen, Patrick Coyne, Joan Marie Peitscher, and Travis Coyne Stein; his grandchildren Sophia Coyne-Kosnak, James Coyne, and John Coyne; and by his siblings Mary Frances (late John Summerville and the late Bernard) McCaulley, Bridget "Betty Ann" (late Anthony) Bialk, Theresa (late Vernon "Babe") Petty, and Eileen (James) Gibbons. He was also a fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews, cherished brother-in-law to many, and a friend to a multitude of others. He was preceded in death by his brothers John "Jack" (the late Catherine) Coyne, Thomas Coyne, and his sister Kathleen McGuire. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service in James Coyne's honor will be scheduled at a later time.

Jamie, thanks for being the biggest dad-joke-goof-ball-father to my best friend, best man, and husband to my mother from another mother. I miss you. I truly believe you're in a much better place now so, you'll feel pity for me -as always- :-) Love you man.
