Jim Crider never let the trials of life destroy his sense of humor. I respect the fact that he did not succumb to depression.

I strongly suspect that Jim Crider was familiar with the "Car Talk" radio show hosted by the brothers Tom Magliozzi (deceased) and Ray Magliozzi. The Jim Crider that I remember from my days at the University of Tulsa would have performed very well as a host or co-host of such a program.

Jim and I met in the early `90s when we were both autocrossing Ford products and our clan seemed to spend every weekend, and many week days, together. Once I started club racing, Jim and Karen were usually trackside with flags in their hands. They suffered thru many of the defeats with me, and celebrated the successes more than I did. When he moved away from Michigan, his spirit, particularly that of always helping those in need, never left. He never seemed that far from me. I miss you, my friend.

I knew Jim from Camp Christian as a teenager. He was genuine, interesting, nerdy, and a great guy. I had the honor of recreating the Lumberjack skit from Monty Python with him. Jim comes from a remarkable family that does everything right, and I'm glad I knew him for the short time I did.

Jim was a great friend I met through racing back in the 1990's when he lived in Michigan. This friendship continued after he moved to Texas when we met up at various racing events. He was a great person and will be truly missed.

Jim and Karen came over every Wednesday night after Chris died and made dinner, did homework with the girls and just showed us how much love they had. And he was part of the team that planted two trees in my front yard to remember Chris by. Thank you Jim. You are already missed. Prayers and blessings to you and your family.

My first impression of Jim was that he was the Right Man for the Job... that job being any role he volunteered for. He helped me a lot, and I will be forever thankful.

I didn't get to see him as much in recent years as I did in the early years, but I was always glad when I did.

I will miss him.

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I don't remember which SCCA event I first met Jim at, but it was a good 25+ years ago now, when I first started doing national level events. He was a funny guy, a kind person, who wanted competition, but also wanted to have fun with his cars. He was always so helpful and caring, even as we both moved away from the autocross. He always checked in on me through my struggles with mental health. I may not have been able to see Jim face-to-face in years, but that doesn't make his loss any easier to bear.

I'm glad you are no longer in pain, my friend. I miss you.

Jim was a racing friend that I saw at most once a year; first meeting him back 25 or so years ago. Every time we were face to face though, was like seeing a bestie. The world is going to be a lesser place without him in it.

Jim had a great laugh you could practically hear in the Internet, which is where I ran into him in1989. I have never met a man so generous and open hearted. Let someone be in trouble, and he would vroom 1000 miles to their rescue because that was the sort of man he was. His life was a blessing. May his memory be one as well.

Jim was the most amazing of friends, with a wealth of knowledge and even more love.
He will be so very missed.

Jim was always a character we looked forward to catching up with when we all met at SCCA Autocross National Events. So sorry for your loss. He was one of a kind.
