Jim was an anchor of sympathy and humanity in my youth, during a time when I had few anchors, and was deeply suspicious of people. He showed me that a person could espouse religious faith without being dogmatic. I am very grateful to him.

Condolences to all. Many remember Jimmy as a preacher. Me too. Jim and 4 or 5 others in our neighbourhood, all kids that went to Surrey Centre elementary school, got together weekends or after school to play the usual ball games, or cowboys chasing the bad guys Roy Rodgers style with toy sixguns, and blocks of wood nailed to heels of our rubber boots to make them look like cowboy boots. We usually took turns making up rules for the games we played. When it was Jimmy's turn to call the game, he always wanted to play "Church!" He was always the preacher, white sheet and all, and we were the congregation. Conveniently, there was a vacant chicken house for church and Jim found boxes to serve as pews and the pulpit. One time when the sermon was dragging a bit, one of us stood up and asked Jim if all this was going to take much longer as "there were lots of bad guys out there that needed chasing!" Gordon and Len might remember?
He started early, had a high purpose to his life, and left us too soon. RIP.

My condolences to the Cruickshank family. Jim and first met in McBride during the late 1950's when he served as the Anglican Minister. Jim was full energy, wit and and an inspiration to our whole community. Jim was a great friend of my family, especially my dear mother Irene who had an equally strong faith. Every time Jim and I occasionally met over the years we shared memories of these good times. We will all miss him.

Sincere sympathy to the family of James Cruickshank. Jim was always a friend when one needed one,a good pastor and a great bishop who helped the Church in its attempt at reconciliation with our Indigenous People's. He will always be remembered with fondness and thanksgiving for a life so well lived.

Jim was a great mentor and friend to me. I will always cherish his advice and friendship, and remember fondly our Thursday dinners at the local pub prior to me leaving Vancouver all those years ago. Since then, whenever back in Vancouver he always made time available for us to get together for a meal and catch-up.
Sue, Jason & Pauline, Ana, and your families, my sincere condolences to you.

Jim was one of the most wonderful, inspiring mentors in faith I ever had the privilege to know. Jim lived his convictions and spread joy to so very many. I will miss him, as will many others.
