To Honor The Memory of
James “Jimmy” Curry
James Curry entered this life on October 4, 1925, in Switzerland County, near Center Square, Indiana, the son of Paul Henry & Susie M. Brett Curry, both of whom preceded him death. He was raised in Switzerland County and a 1943 graduate of Vevay High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on Aug. 9, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served during World War II, rising to the rank of Technician Fifth Grade, serving Company A of the 410th Infantry Regiment 103rd Division. He was honorably discharged on June 28, 1946, at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, receiving the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater with Two Bronze Stars Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, & the Rifle Marksman Medal. He participated in the campaigns to liberate the Rhineland & Central Europe. James was united in marriage on June 10, 1950, at the Switzerland Baptist Parsonage to Tanya Mae Brys, to this union arrived two daughters & two sons to bless their home. James had farmed all of his life and had enjoyed all the aspects of farming. He retired in 1987, from the Alton Box Factory in Aurora, after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post 185 & the Vevay VFW Post 5396, the Fairview United Methodist Church and served on the Cotton Township Advisory Board. He enjoyed in his spare time playing horse shoes, playing & watching softball, playing cards, reading, hunting, his horses & his farm. His greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. James & Tanya enjoyed renewing their wedding vows on their fiftieth Wedding Anniversary at the Fairview United Methodist Church with their family and friends there to support them. Jimmy as he was known throughout the community was a great friend to many he will be sadly missed by all that knew & loved him.

James will be sadly missed by his heartbroken wife: Tanya of Fairview; his loving daughters: Rhonda Cutter & her companion: Wayne Robinson of Vevay; Vicki Koons & her husband: Tom of Versailles, IN; his loving sons: Terrance “Terry” Curry & his wife: Anna of Union, KY; Greg Curry & his wife: Cathy of Vevay; his loving brothers: Clinton Curry of Moorefield; Dale Curry of Vevay; Henry P. Curry & his wife: Dot of Rising Sun; his loving sister: Kathryn Martin of Dillsboro, IN; his loving grandchildren: Troy Dale & Lorie Smith; Jamie & Keith Works; Jacob & Cheri Koons; Jeremy & Vickie Koons; Jackie & Brian Murray; Jan Byrd; Alissa Curry; Erica Curry, Adam & Amanda Curry; Micah Curry; Tara Curry & Fiance’: Jack Hite; & Shane Curry; his loving great grandchildren: Zach, Kylie, Samantha, Brady, Nick, Kassedy, Kaleigh, Kameron, Bradley, Gabrielle, Elijah, Brianna, Madesyn, Nathan, Kaleb, Ryan, Tanner, & Kortni; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Ina Mae Caplinger on July 15, 1997.

Mr. Curry will be remembered in a funeral ceremony conducted by Rev. Arnold Cutter on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 2:00 pm at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, IN; Interment will follow at the Vevay Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Vevay American Legion Post 185 & Vevay VFW Post 5396 Honor Guard. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. The family requests memorials in memory of James to the Fairview United Methodist Church or the Switzerland County Emergency Unit, contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
