James D. Dean

Memorial services for James D. (Jim) Dean, 76, of Lufkin, will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at The Lodge, located at 104 West Shepherd Ave., with The Rev. Randall K. Green officiating. Mr. Dean was born April 10, 1934, in Coldwater, Michigan, to the late Glema (Crandall) and Edwin Dean. He died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Dean loved people, enjoyed singing and joking around, and he loved coffee. He was a charter member of the Christ Congregational Church, where he also served as a greeter and member of the choir. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kim Dean, Jeff and Nance Dean; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Jim Gaard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Bobbie Dean, Gil and Alice Dean, Don and Florence Dean; grandchildren, Erin and Caleb Perry, Melissa and Nathan Shafer, Matthew Dean, David Dean, Shelby Dean, Alek Gaard, and Braydon Gaard; great-grandchildren, Gavin Shafer, Haley Shafer and Noah Perry; special friend, Sharon Ramsey; and his loyal dog, "Morgan the Fat Girl." He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Dean; son, Randy Dean; and his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ Congregational Church, P.O. Box 27, Lufkin, Texas 75902.
