James Doherty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 9 to Jun. 10, 2018.
James (Jim) A. Doherty, 71, of Hudson, Quebec and Cornwall, Ontario, passed away peacefully June 5th, 2018. Jim was the first-born son of Howard and Agatha, dear brother of Rod (Sandra), Wayne and Terry; loving and proud father of Jason (Valérie), Tara (Dave) and Emily (Patrick). Most especially, Jim was a devoted grandfather to his seven grandchildren Dylan, Océanne, Marlee, Anika, River, Maya, and Autumn. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Maggie Kirby, and his dear friend Michelle Sabourin, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim fought a heroic battle these past few months—his strength, courage, and determination will never be forgotten. His unwavering positive attitude, and his love for his family are his legacy. Jim was well known for his generosity, his kindness, and gentle ways. He always took time to listen and to share his wealth of knowledge. If he wasn’t playing with his grandkids, you could find him driving his boat (or anyone else’s boat for that matter!), or chatting with friends at the local pub. He was humble and witty, and always managed to find the good in every difficult situation—his favourite expression was: “it’ll all come out in the wash”. We will miss our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Friend dearly.

Please join us in the celebration of his life at the Hudson Community Baptist Church located at 3141 Cote St-Charles, Saint-Lazare, QC J7T 2H8

I spent many hours chatting with your dad over the past few years at Cunningham's Pub in Hudson. If he was there, I talked to him every time. We talked a lot about boating as it was both of our passions, but he would listen to anything that I had to say. He was a great man and I will miss him dearly. My condolences to the entire family. I know you are, but be very proud of him as he was a tremendously kind man.

Jim was a great guy, I've known him for many years. I was first introduced to him as Orley and called him that for years until he returned to Qc and worked with Rod that is when I was informed of his real name. Da! Jim would buy around 20 oatmeal cookies every week at the Mtl auto auction and give them to random yard employees,as he said they are overlooked and this is just a little something I can do. Over the past couple of yrs he's given me some sound advise for which I'm truly grateful. Thanks Jim or should I say safe journeys Orley. My heart goes out to his family and friends. dH auctioneer Montreal Auto Auction (Adesa)

It is with deep sadness that we learn of Jim's passing.Even though we have not been in contact with Jim for several years I highly respected Jim as a man and his ability to achieve his many goals in business. In nineteen eighty nine Jim included me in a potential business venture which I will never forget.

My wife Carol and I offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends. May Jim rest in peace.
