Hello. This is the 10th July 2024 and I googled Mr Dorward - my science teacher in the 90s and was brought here. So lovely to read what others have said. I googled him because he was an inspiration...a great teacher.
`Mr Dorward, can you have a fire in the sky?´ Someone asked. He swiftly got some soapy liquid, a gas that floated (that was flammable) a meter stick and a long wooden taper - the bubble floated, he lit the taper attached to the meter stick and low and behold - a fire in the sky! Briefly of course. Thank you Mr Dorward. R.I.P.

R.I.P. Mr Dorward, you were my science teacher from 1981 to 1983 and my biology teacher from 1983 to 1986 (O'Grade and then Higher). Thank you for your first class teaching (I obtained an A in O'grade biology and just missed an A in Higher biology). You made the subject so interesting and entertaining for us (two examples come to mind - drawing your own blood for blood experiments and standing on your head to demonstrate drinking water upside down. You were always able to knock up gadgets from bunsen-rubber tubing, batteries, etc!). R.I.P.

Richard, one of your students from 1981 to 1986.

Very sorry to hear of Mr Dorward's passing, he was an inspirational teacher and significantly influenced my decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. His boundless enthusiasm and passion for science will live long in the memory.
