Because of Jim's hard work establishing the teacher's unions on the north shore, I could follow my calling and afford to supply my special education classroom AND pay my bills. I believe it is very important to honor those who lead in any struggle that makes the lives of so many others, better. He not only made MY life better, but those of my students. Because of him, my classroom was funded. He didn't know that, but I am here to say, "Thank you!"

I learned so much from Jim about working effectively as an administrator in a strong union environment... especially after making some rather stupid mistakes early in my career at Niles Township! I could always count on him for an honest opinion about an idea and I think it is safe to say we both respected each other even when we did not agree. His obituary was a wonderful summary of the life of a remarkable man. My sincerest sympathies to the family.

Jim was a teacher and union leader that we all fondly remember. He did so much for his former students and for all the teachers at Niles Township High Schools. Thank you, Jim.
