James Doughty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2020.
James S. Doughty, 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 29, 2020 at Waterbury Hospital with his family by his side. Jim was born October 17, 1955 in Hartford, CT to the late James E. Doughty and Elizabeth (Shea). He attended East Hartford High school and graduated in 1974. For much of his working career he was in the welding and steel fabrication industry; working many years at United Steel formally East Hartford Welding. Jim enjoyed many things, most of them taking him outdoors. He enjoyed nature walks, fishing, his turtle pond, playing horseshoes and baseball, and watching drag car racing. He would spend many Sunday afternoons at the CT Dragway in Colchester, CT. He also liked spending time with his children; countless hours practicing softball or soccer in the back yard, or in the stands cheering. He is survived and dearly missed by his daughter Lindsay (Doughty) Pignataro and her husband Michael of East Lyme, CT. Son Steven Doughty and his fiancé Melissa Dow of Stafford, CT. Brother Kurt Doughty and his wife Lori (Oliver) of Vernon, CT, and sister Mary (Doughty) Dwyer of Simsbury, CT. Grandchildren Ayla and Landon Pignataro; Kyleigh, and Damien Doughty. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim's family would like to express their gratitude to Waterbury Gardens and Waterbury Hospital for their care, and for including him into their own families. Jim's family would also like to thank countless family and friends for their acts of kindness and support during his illness. Visitation hours will be Saturday March 7, 2020 from 9am to 11am at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT. 06108.
