The Virginian started out being my favorite show ever since I use to watch it with my grandpa back in the late 70’s. I still love and watch the show til this day, mainly because I love the music. I’m no relative or aquaintance of the family; just a #1 fan.

He was loved by everyone

I watched the Virginian growing up. I joined a band who's lead singer was Chris Drury. I asked him if he was related and he said "He's my father through adoption". James' son Timothy joined the band soon after, and we played many shows together. It was a trip to see James in the back row of the clubs slowly drinking his whiskey on the rocks. I met him at a charity event at the Autry museum several years before he passed. What a treat that was! Rest in Peace, sir!

I grew up watching James , with my dad we watched every episode and I loved and respected him so did my father, my father died young but I remember warmly those evenings, thank you mr Drury god bless and rest your soul !!!.

James Drury was a Cowboy and a Gentleman. I met him at the Astro Hall in Houston, back in the 90s. I would have been proud to call him my friend.

The first time i saw the show i fell in love with it. The way Mr.Drury dressed in that vest and the blue jeans, I wanted to dress the same way it looked kool and comfortable so that was it for me. I`ve added photos of James from the Virginian episodes to my memory space set aside for him. He will always be with me.

I mourn the passing of James every day. I so looked forward to "The Virginian" and replay the episodes that I was able to record.

A dedicated, hard working professional who helped create high quality drama on Amerocan television. He is sorely missed.

I was very fortunate to cross paths with James on several different occasions. He would always make you feel equal to himself. Most actors believe they're privilege but James didn't have that attitude around others . Always enjoyed talking with him and listening to him share his life story.

He was a great actor , I always look at the Reruns of the Virginian on tv !

I met Mr Drury in Houston ( Charity Event in the Wild West Bar) a few tears ago. What a gent. A real polite pleasant bloke. Gave me some of his time and we spoke about his series on in the UK in 60's. God Bless.

I was never fortunate enough to meet Mr. Drury and that made me very sad. I was impressed to learn that he actually lived the "cowboy way". He must have been quite a man!

I grew up in the late 1950's and 1960's. As a young person I was addicted to TV westerns, but The Virginian was my all time favorite. The memories of the episodes and the music have stayed with me throughout my life, and James Drury has always been to me the epitome of the cowboy way and has always been a hero of mine. My name is boss I really like it I love them Virginia and even though Virginia was the star I put Trampas Doug McClure right up there with him and they played a real action cowboy series I live in Old Town in Florida called Davie FL for years and I tell you I would have loved to see him there seen them both I never had a chance to really see both of them but they were really my fan even my father when's he was living we watch the
beginningg every Wednesday we thank you for all that you have given us how you have cherished in my life and we still continue to watch your week may God bless you rest in peace and your memories will go home for own and on.

I'm 81 years old and husband is 82. We watched son the episodes of Virginian when it was made in the 60's . We have since, watched them repeatedly. We are watching them again at this time. James was such a great actor, and the stories were all great. Love watching him And Trampas and their relationship in the movies. They were really the true cowboys, that's why they could portray them so well.

Years after watching the original episodes with my grandmother, I was blessed to be able to watch it again with my 93 year old mother.... In those fifty years, I learned a lot about the impression James made on us all....

Mr. Drury stated that he based his contributions to the character of The Virginia on the attributes of his maternal grandfather who was a ranch owner and a true cowboy himself. I was truly saddened to hear of his passing. He will not be forgotten.

My deepest condolences to family and friends. My mom passed the same year as James and the loss continues to cut deep. I didn't know about the show The Virginian until I stumbled upon episodes many months later, but James' portrayal of the character and values of integrity, loyalty, and chivalry he brought to the man in the black hat have left an indelible mark. I think it's great that he toured the convention circuit in his later years to connect with fans; he seemed like a truly genuine and kind human being. As my mom always said, "We lost another good one." RIP James

I met him around 2006 when wife had knee surgery. I enjoyed our conversations, he and his wife were both very kind.

There are very few people that can truly play the part of a cowboy and make you feel like you are watching actual wild west footage. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Glenn Ford and Randolph Scott are a few. I love watching all the old western films from the sitcoms that played weekly to the big screen movies that wete only on the big screen fir a short period. The Virginian was by far my favorite. I enjoyed all the characters like Trampus, Randy, Elizebeth and Stacey but The Virginian is the one that drew me into the show. James Drury is also one of those rare people that can play the role of a cowboy and make you believe that the story was real. No one else could have played The Virginian like James Drury and made me feel like i was watching real life. RIP Mr Drury and thank you for taking us all out on the roundup. I know i will never forget you.

I LOVE JAMES DRURY A GREAT ACTOR

We met James in about 1996 in Cleveland ,Texas town square. We were talking to a fellow who belonged to the
shoutiest Club. James rode up on his horse, Sandy and I didn't who he was. The fellow we were talking to induced us to James. Our impression was "He is a Real Cowboy". Callused hands that showed he was the "Real Cowboy".

What a great talent, who will sadly be missed.

I am watching “The Virginian right this very second. I have to say that it is roughly a year and a half after his passing and just finding out that he has passed, I am extremely saddened and more. Almost all of the cowboys have gone now. I picture James on a huge steed, black in color. The good guys not only wore black but, rode dark horses as well. My love and sympathy go to his family, friends and fans. A man like him cannot be replaced. He was one of a kind. A true gentleman, a real cowboy. So few filled that mold but many tried. The days of ranches, cowboys, cattle drives, sleeping under the stars and incredible horses seem to be gone. Mr. James Drury, My hats off to you!! Rest In Peace kind sir! You are missed

Met Mr. Drury because of my family's t.v. and then in person on one of his Person Appearances years ago, but he lives in our hearts forever and my Dad Tom Brown, who admired him and his Cowboy Credo and way of life a man of honesty all of his life.
He and my Daddy both passed away within days of each other last year in April.
The Good LORD brought them together again.

I am still saddened by the "Bossman's" passing, my deepest regret is never meeting him in person and the loss to his family. He will always be in my mind, heart and soul.

Since I was 14 I loved The Virginian and still do. It’s been a year now and how time flies. At 73 I am thankful there is YouTube and INSP airing such a great show. I am glad I got to see him in movies in my lifetime. Hero’s like him are dwindling away. As I child my hero’s were Rex, Roy, Gene and the Lone Ranger. He is right there with them.

Simply the BEST! What a truly class act. Grew up watching The Virginian, and still enjoy every chance I get to catch an episode. Tremendous role model who was someone who taught values, respect and work ethic. Will be greatly missed.
