The following are the things I wanted to say about my Dad at his Celebration of Life. These are the things I will always remember about my Dad:
What I will always remember about my Dad
Faith:
My earliest memories are waking up early to eat breakfast and finding my Dad kneeling in prayer and studying his Bible
After becoming a Christian, staying up late at night helping me deal with insecurities about my salvation
Being a constant in a World of inconsistencies. His faith never waivered. He was truly ready to go Home.
Family:
Taking the time and effort to practice baseball with me.
Going on our annual road trips to visit family. We would often leave after work on Friday night and take turns keeping Dad awake.
Hearing my Dad and Uncle Gordon tell the same jokes year after year and still laughing every time.
Bridging the gap with my Son when we didn´t see eye to eye. They may have perfected "road therapy." They were both grounded on at least one occasion for being gone too long and being too far from home.
Putting his affairs in order by moving to Tennessee and accepting help with his finances and health issues.
Work:
Instilling a good work ethic by sharing valuable insights on how to start work, not be the first to take breaks or roll up your tools at the end of the day (complete whatever task you are working on first).
Always there to help friends and family with household projects (especially pouring concrete - his specialty).
Quality Time Together:
Going to Bristol Motor Speedway to the Spring race when Ricky was deployed and seeing Dale Earnhardt sit in his car at the exit to pit road while his crew made the repairs necessary to go back out long enough to put Jeff Gordon in the wall.
Sitting in his garage at our home in Tennessee, watching the world and talking about any random item that came to mind. Enjoying the September Super Moon together.
Leaving nothing left unsaid before his passing.

He would grab our hands and skip with us in amusement parks. It was always my favorite memory. He always made me laugh until I cried. He had the best sense of humor and was quick with the jokes. I will miss him terribly.

Uncle Jimmy was such a kind person. He always check in on my dad when he was struggling with cancer. We loved the stories he would tell about him and my dad in the military. He loved God his family and his country. Uncle Jimmy you will be missed by all. Until we meet again.

Jim Dyer (aka Dad Jim) is one of my family´s favorite Heroes. Our lives have been so blessed and we are all better for knowing him and so grateful that Honor Flight San Diego brought him into our lives. Our Nation has suffered a great loss of a Great American Hero. Dad Jim will forever be in our hearts! Rest in Peace Dad Jim. I know that there was an endless line of fellow Veterans and family and friends waiting to greet him at his Heavenly Homecoming. We loved him so much. My family and I are keeping Mom Pearl and the Dyer family in our thoughts and prayers.
Love you more Dad Jim,

Although he was my uncle, he was only 7 when I was born. I remember playing with him at my Granny's. I also remember how he loved my granny (his mother). He lived away from us for his adult life but my mom communicated with him and Aunt Vera Pearl. When Mom was dying in the Living Center, in walked Little Jimmy to visit with her. Uncle Jimmy loved the Lord and we'll see him again.

Family camping trips, listening to him tell stories and jokes, waking up as a little girl and he had made his famous Mickey Mouse pancakes for us grandkids. He was always so full of love!

My dad will be truly missed. One of my favorite memories would be the yearly road-trips that our family took, growing up. Every summer we would head off for Texas, Louisiana or Oklahoma. Very good memories indeed.
