Nancy

I am so sorry to learn of your tremendous loss. I saw the two of you often, walking past our home in the morning. To see you alone seems so wrong. I know you loved Jim with your whole heart, and he you. I am sorry. Hugs to you. Leslie

Hi Everyone Nancy Eidt here
Thank you all so much for your kind words. I know that all of you loved Jim and it is comforting to hear how much he meant to all of you. I miss him more every single day and I would give everything I had to have him back. Please stay in touch. Nancy

Jim and me went through so much together, what a good friend and pal he was . During our teen years we shared music , fun , good times and bad times. We never lost touch , from grade one to the last week of his short life . His home, as a teen, was mine and he was always welcome in ours house . The love of his life was clearly Nancy, followed by cats , and then hockey . What a loss , all who knew him loved him and I'm so glad that I was able to see him on occassion and continue our relationship. He will never be forgotten.

Jimmy was a real pal. He was the first friend I met as a new immigrant to Canada way back in 1966. He took me under his wing. We played football together, drove around in his family's Mustang posting signs for his mum's municipal election campaign, played cards in his basement and ping pong in mine. We had some great times together through public school, high school and after. Jim was smart, vibrant, and charming. He had a terrific sense of humour. He was fun to be with. Jim's tragic loss is a sad, sad moment for so many. From all your pals from Scarborough, Golf Road Public, and Cedarbrae Collegiate, so long old friend. We'll miss you.

We shared our childhood. We shared our friends. We both liked olives. We fought like crazy but defended each other unconditionally.
He went out west but would show up unexpectedly, always grinning -just the best surprise. He always called on my birthday.
Nancy and I loved him. She is wife and I his sister.
"He ain't heavy, he's my brother" choked me up because I always thought of Jim.
Jim and Nance should be here today in preparation for my son's wedding. Instead we will raise a glass on Saturday to toast one hell of a nice guy. I miss him.

we've lost one of the good guys....I worked with Jim in Edmonton at ITV and we crossed paths here in Victoria every once in a while. Jim was understated and always had a kind word, his work speaks volumes about his character and talent. Deepest condolences to all.

Jim was a great defenceman, a real competitor and a true gentleman.
He weaved in and out of my professional career and beer league hockey life. I will miss him. Nancy, we all share your sorrow.

So sorry to hear of Jim's death. It's been a long time since I worked with him but I do remember his great sense of humour. We even have the blooper tapes to prove it :) Take care Nancy 'till you and Jim meet again.

Dear Nancy, I was shocked to read of Jim's death and send you wishes for strength. I went to journalism school with Jim and then knew him socially when I moved to Alberta .... we had such fun those many years ago. I believe Jim is happy and content rejuvenating for yet another life, you will see one another again.

Words cannot express the sadness at the news of Jim's passing. There was an immediate flood of fond memories from working along side him at ITV or playing shinny on Saturday mornings at the Mayfield. Jim will truly be missed by everyone who had the extreme pleasure of knowing him.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim for about 8 years at CJAX back in the 80's. I have great memories of time spent with Jim both on the air and on the baseball diamond. He truly was a special person. Nancy,it was so obvious to me how close a relationship the two of you had. You have my deepest sympathy.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a vibrant, active person that it’s hard to think this could have really happened. You and Jim were a true class act, and I smile thinking of the great times we had. I’ll never forget Jim’s incredible vocabulary, nor how he cheerily suffered through dismal hockey season after season of his beloved Maple Leafs. My deepest condolences Nancy, my thoughts are with you.

Though Jim and I did not know each other well, this is some of the saddest news I have ever heard. He was a real joy to be around. He was gifted with a rare intelligence and wit, and he always made every room he was in a better place. Nancy- my sincerest condolences. You and I met a few times during the time that Jim and I worked together at CJAX, and know this must be a devastating loss.

Sincerely,

Brian DePoe

My most sincere thoughts are with you Nancy. Jim worked with us at the launch of CJAX in Edmonton in the early 80's and I agree with all your observations...he truly was a wonderful person and will be sadly missed.

I only played hockey with Jim, but I feel a huge loss. I played with Jim during the summer for five years, and as an occasional spare during the rest of the year. It was always a thrill to have Jim in the same dressing room as I was. Having Jim in the room ensured that we were in store for some lively, intelligent, topical conversation. Jim was a great hockey player, and an even greater person. After playing a game, regardless of the outcome, Jim made the dressing room conversation vibrant, relevant, and funny. I feel very lucky to have crossed his path, during the time he was with us. My heartfelt symphathy goes out to his family and friends. The loss that I feel after knowing him from just a limited time, must be pale in comparison to the people who truly spent time and knew the true value of this man. I will miss Jim very much, and I barely knew him. I do think, that trying make some postive of a truly negative situation, that Jim left us in one of the most cultural cities of the world. Truly Jim was a world class individual, and ironic as it is, he found his final peace in a city as important to the world, as he was to us. Thanks for the time we had Jim. You were a very good hockey player, but your friendship and compassion for others will always overshaw that.

My wife and I did not know james, but we were touched deeply by his obituary. He sounded like a wonderful man, and the world is lesser for your loss. Words are hopelessly inadequate to convey such deep feelings, but from the bottom of our hearts, we are sorry.
"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee" -john donne
