James Elliott

Mr. James Michael "Jim" Elliott, a respected Philadelphia businessman and devoted husband and father, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Malvern, Pennsylvania, at the age of 78 after a courageous seven-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Born on March 15, 1947, in Philadelphia, Jim was raised in Haverford and remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. He was the eldest son of Catherine O'Malley Elliott and Jumbo Elliott, the renowned Villanova track coach.

Jim attended St. Aloysius and Malvern Prep before continuing his education at Villanova University, where he ran track and captained the golf team. After graduating, he dedicated his career to running Elliott & Frantz, Inc., a heavy construction equipment dealership in King of Prussia founded by his father. A respected leader in the industry, Jim was known for his strong work ethic, ability to inspire those around him, and his pride in his family's business.

Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn (Carr); his three children, Michael (Diana Gragg), Matthew (Bonnie Tsui), and Catherine (Christopher) Travaglini; and his five grandchildren, Zachary, Katelyn, Felix, Theodore, and Claire. He considered his family his greatest accomplishment.

A lifelong golfer and dedicated coach, Jim found joy on the driving range, always eager to help others improve their swing. He cherished his work, his faithful dog Buddy, Villanova Basketball, Philadelphia sports, and coaching at the Academy of Notre Dame (Villanova) as the girls' golf coach.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 9-11 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on campus, 800 E Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA 19085. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private at the family's request.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Massachusetts General Hospital and Jim's ALS medical team for their compassionate care.
