James - We never saw enough of each other in recent years and, sadly, I really had no idea..... But the 'good' (if that's what they can, objectively, be called!) times both at school and Cambridge, plus your 'stories'(?) and the experience of our rough shooting as boys and lunch after with your hospitable (if to me, as a mere boy, 'terrifying'!) grandfather at the wonderful Euston, will never be forgotten.

My sorrow and sincere condolences, and that of my entire family, go to your wife, parents, children and the rest of your family at this terrible time. And may Euston (like Thornham) continue to flourish nevertheless!

"If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more, we shall speak again together and you shall sing to me a deeper song".

from ....... "The Prophet" written by Kahlil Gibran.

Posted on behalf of my Mother, Mrs. Enid Lapper, of Water Lane Cottage, Barnham, who is now in a Nursing Home, and too ill to write the condolence letter that I know she would like to have written.

Fiona Lapper, Thornham Magna.
