Lois and family - Jim was one of the first managers that I met when I started as a new employee in the ad department of the ABJ over 30 years ago. He was a kind man with loads of funny stories! He kept up employee morale (and revenues) in the department with his staff direction, encouragement and mentoring. I will remember his influence on me throughout my early years at the ABJ. I've stayed with the newspaper industry and wish we had more Jim Farrell-type leaders today. Please cherish the memories you have of Jim - I do!

I did not work directly with Jim but knew him at the Beacon Journal. He was always a happy, smiling gentleman. We loved his laugh/chuckle. Made all of us laugh. I know he will be missed.

My sympathy to Jim's family. It's been a long time but I worked near Jim's department on the 2nd floor at the Beacon. I remember his friendliness and that he always said hello, but most of all I remember his chuckling laughter. A happy man he was.

Please accept my condolences. We are losing too many Beacon Journal retirees.

Jim's passing has been posted on the BJ Alums blog so that his BJ friends will know about it.
