James Glauser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 7, 2024.
James Reginald "Jim" Glauser, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, at the age of 92 in Woodstock, Illinois. Jim was born on November 26, 1931, in Zion, Illinois, to his parents Walter and Elizabeth (Amstutz) Glauser.

Jim married Virginia Jean Norgren in 1956 and they enjoyed 27 wonderful years together in Crystal Lake, IL with their daughters Jeannine and Amanda. Their family loved spending time together at church events and with their extended family in the area.

Jim had a fulfilling career at Jewel Tea Company in Barrington, Illinois, where he dedicated many years of hard work before retiring in 1989 at the age of 58. He took great pride in his accomplishments and valued the relationships he built during his time there.

After Virginia's passing in 1984, Jim spent a great deal of time with family and friends in the area and also with Virginia's brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Ethel Nordgren, in Bethany Beach, Michigan. Jim was fortunate enough to meet Pearl Swart in Bethany Beach thanks to the connection through Bud and Ethel, and they were married in 1985.

Bethany Beach became the most beloved place on Earth to Jim and he moved there with Pearl where they went on to enjoy 34 years together before her passing in 2019. The friendships and community that were built in Bethany Beach will forever be cherished.

Jim is survived by his beloved daughters Jeannine Anderson (husband David Anderson) and Amanda Schneegass, and his sons Earl (wife Gwen) Swart, Bryant (wife Tami) Swart, and Bruce Swart. He was also cherished by his sisters Marianne Berg, Annette Frey and Grace McKean. Jim's memory will forever live on through his grandchildren Jordan Anderson, Liza Dougherty, Daniel Swart, Ashley Burns, Katie Galbraith, and Brianna Wetherwax as well as through his many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim was very fortunate to have spent a great deal of time with his sister, Annette Frey, during many extended visits over the past decade.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Glauser, his in-laws Walter and Vivian Norgren, his first wife, Virginia Norgren Glauser, in 1984, and his second wife, Pearl Swart Glauser, in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his brother Paul (wife Jean) Glauser, brothers-in-law Carl Frey, Lee Berg, and John McKean, and his son-in-law Ray Schneegass in October of 2023.

A Memorial Service to honor Jim's life will be held this summer at the Bethany Beach Tabernacle and Community House in Bethany Beach, Sawyer, Michigan. More details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Bethany Beach Tabernacle at www.bethanybeachtabernacle.churchcenter.com.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy will continue through the lives he touched. Jim loved watching the sunset at Weko Beach in Bridgman, Michigan, and never missed a chance to share his favorite Bible verses. His faith never wavered, right to the end. We rejoice in knowing that he is now with the Lord.

Jeanine and Mandy, Just wanted to tell you how much I admired your family, and the example your dad was to me of what a dad could be. My thoughts have been with you since I heard of his passing, and hope you take comfort in good memories, and the promise of our future hope.
