I grew up in Decatur. My older sister Leslie and I went to church & school with Nathan (as he was called then) & his brother Mark. I was in the same grade as Mark but I was a year younger than Mark. My sister Leslie was one grade ahead of us. Nathan was always so kind to me. I'd had an accident and knocked my front teeth loose and we had to wait 2 years til they were healed stable to get braces to fix them. So for Jr high I had these terrible buck teeth, coke bottle glasses & a terrible short haircut. I was made fun of by so many people- kids are cruel at that age. But in youth group at Chapel Hill Methodist Nathan never laughed at me, he spoke to me & was just plain nice. His not teasing me meant the rest of the youth didn't tease me. Everybody looked up to him. I was just a silly giggling preteen/teen girl (as you are at that age) who was in awe of him. We moved in 74 and I never saw him again any of the times we were back in Decatur. His kindness to me made such an impact on me for the rest of my life. I'd even planned to name my 2nd child after him but she was a girl. He was Jesus's example even as a teenage boy. I was blessed to know him. My prayers are with his family.

Dearest Deb, Sydney & the entire Hallmark family,
We are heartbroken to accept that our Uncle Nathan & brother in law has left us with SO SO many hugs, kisses & 5 Star grilled dinners to be shared w/ such a welcoming, friendly, genuine guy! Most special was his wonderful laugh, it always put a smile on our face & will continue to...ALWAYS See you on the other side

We didn't know James, but we love his sweet daughter Sydney. He and his wife Debbie did an awesome job rearing their girl! So sad that he passed at such a young age and he will definitely be missed by all those who loved him. We are sorry for your loss and are praying for all of you.
