Mr. Hancock was a wonderful teacher at Drew High School. It was such a pleasure to visit with him at our 1963 class reunion a few years ago. He will be missed.

Mr. Hancock meant a great deal to me, not only as a teacher, but as a lifetime friend. He and Missy joined First United Methodist Church when they moved to Philadelphia in the 60's. It was my pleasure to have had Mr. Hancock as my youth leader. My parents held him in the highest esteem. I can still hear David at age two 'singing' with a great joyful noise in church on Sunday nights. I babysat for David and later for both he and Dale. We are all better because of the influence of this family. Missy, David and Dale, my thoughts and prayers are with you now and the coming difficult days. God will give you peace even through your pain.

I have such fond memories of Mr. Hancock as my amazing science teacher at Philadelphia High School in the late 60's. My dad was J.E. Hurdle, Superintendent of schools. Dad always spoke so highly of Mr. Hancock as one of the strongest and most outstanding of all the teachers. I am so fortunate to have crossed his path so many years ago and am so sorry for your loss.

Jim was my high school science teacher and my lifelong friend. He nurtured in me an interest in science, a devotion to excellence, and a commitment to teaching as a humane mission. Whatever I accomplished in my own career, I credit him for the inspiration. RIP.
